સાચું નામ તેનું કેશવ પણ બધાં તેને કેશુ કહે.નાનપણથી તે ગરીબીમાં ઉછરેલો. મા બાપ મજૂરી કરી જેમ તેમ કરી ઘર ચલાવે. ગામનાં છેવાડે તેનું ઘર.ઘર એટલે આમ તો ઝૂંપડું જ ગણાય તેવું. અડધા ઘરને વિલાયતી નળિયાં,ને અડધા ને પતરાથી માળેલું.એક રૂમ,નાનું રસોડું ને ઓસરી.આગળ તડકો ના આવે એટલા માટે બાવળના લાકડા નો માંડવો કરેલો ને તેના ઉપર ઘાસ નાખેલું. મકાન ની ભીતો અને તળિયે ગોરમટી ( લીંપણ માટે વપરાતી ચીકણી માટી) અને જીણું કુવળ ( ઘઉં નાં ઘાસનાં એક દમ બારીક ટુકડા) ભેગુ કરી લીંપણ કરેલું હતું.
