સતત ચાલતા રહેવાને કારણે તે થાક્યો હતો. તરસથી વ્યાકુળ થતો જળની તલાશમાં તે બસ ચાલ્યે જ જતો હતો. છેવટે તેની આશા ફળી; ને એક સુંદર ખળખળ વહેતુ નિર્મળ જળ વ્હાવતું એક ઝરણું એને મળ્યું. કઈક કિંમતી વસ્તુ મળી ગઈ હોય એમ તેના ચહેરા પર હલકી હસી આવી. તે આગળ વધ્યો. ઝરણાની સમીપ જઈ ઉભડક પગે બેસી તે સહેજ વાંકો વળ્યો. પેહલા બંને હાથ ધોઈ તે ખોબલે ખોબલે પોતાની તૃષા છીપાવવા લાગ્યો. પછી સંતૃપ્તિનો ઓડકાર લેતા તેણે શીતળ જળની બુંદોનો ચેહરા પર છંટકાવ કર્યો. આમ કરવાથી તેને ઘણી તાજગી મહેસુસ થઈ ને જાણે સઘળો થાક ચપટીમાં વિલીન થઈ ગયો. આ તેનો
