ઉસ્માન જુનો છકડો લઇ ભાડા કરે. અડધી રાત્રે કોઈને દવાખાને જવું હોય કે કોઈ પણ કામે જવાનું હોય તો ઉસ્માન તૈયાર જ હોય. આળસ જરા પણ નહિ. પણ બિસ્માર અને જુનવાણી રસ્તાઓ ઉપર છકડામાં કંઇક ને કંઇક ખોટકો આવી જાય. ઉસ્માન બે પાંદડે ના થયો. અંતે ખોટ ખાઈને ઉસ્માનનો છકડો વેચાઈ ગયો. ઉસ્માને હિંમત નો હારી. રાતડી દશમા બાપ દાદાની પાંચ વીઘા જમીન હતી એમાં ખેતી કરવાનો વિચાર કર્યો. પણ ગામથી દુર જમીનમાં ડાભ શિવાય કાઈ નો થાય. ઉનાળે બેય દીકરા દશ વરસનો સલીમ અને બાર વરસનો રહીમ અને બેગમ ફાતીમાં ચારેયે મળી કોદાળી પાવડા લઇ
