કુદરતની લાઠી ઓધવજીભાઈ સોની ખુબ નીતિવાળા માણસ. કોઈનું કઈ ખોટું કરતા નહિ. પણ સોનીનો ધંધો કરવત જેવો છે. ઘરાક સોનું ખરીદે તોય નફો અને ઘરાક સોનું વેચે તોય નફો. પણ ભેળસેળમાં થોડું માપ રાખવું એ જ સોનીના ધંધામાં પ્રમાણિકતા. ગામડામાં ગરીબ પાસે પૈસા ના હોય તો ઉધાર દાગીનો આપી ગરીબનો પ્રસંગ સાચવતા. ગામમાં આબરૂ પણ સારી.પત્ની કસ્તુરબેન ખુબ માયાળુ.લોકને આવકાર ખુબ સારો આપે પૈસાનું જરા પણ અભિમાન નહિ. ત્રણ દીકરામાં હેમરાજ સહુથી મોટો, વચલો મનહર અને નાનો દિલો. મોટા દીકરા હેમરાજ અને વચલા મનહર વચ્ચે ઉમરમાં બાર વર્ષનો ફરક.. જુવાન હેમરાજ પિતા સાથે દુકાને આવવા લાગ્યો. ટુંક સમયમાં ખુબ સરસ
