રાષ્ટ્રીય શાયર: ઝવેરચંદ મેધાણી 28મી ઓગષ્ટ 1897- 9મી માર્ચ 1947 ઝવેરચંદ મેધાણીનો જ્ન્મ ચોટીલા મુકામે સવંત 1953નાં શ્રાવણ વદ પાંચમના રોજ એટલેકે 28મી ઓગષ્ટ ઈ.સ. 1897 નાં રોજ જૈન વણિક કુટુંબમાં થયો હતો, પિતા કાળિદાસ મેધાણી અને માતા ધોળીબાઈ. મેધાણી કુટુંબ મૂળ બગસરાનું રહેવાસી. ઝવેરચંદનું પ્રાથમિક શિક્ષણ રાજકોટમાં અને હાઈસ્કુલનું શિક્ષણ અમરેલીમાં થયું. 1912માં મેટ્રીકની પરીક્ષા પસાર કરી, ભાવનગરની શામળદાસ કોલેજમાં દાખલ થયાં. કલાપી પ્રિય કવિ હતાં.
