બહાર ઝરમર મેહ વરસી રહ્યો છે અંદર ઝૂંપડામાંથી ધનજી ની બૈરી મણી ને પ્રસુતીની વેદના દર્દ અને ચીસો બહાર સંભળાઈ રહી છે ધનજીબહાર પલળતો ઊભો છે બીજે ક્યાંય જાય એક કલાકથી વેણ ઉપડ્યું છેે. પીડાખાઇ મણીને હવે તાકાત નથી રહી... એટલે દાયણ બહાર આવી ઘણી કોશિશ કરી પણ કેમેય કરીને તેનો છુટકારો થાય એમ લાગતું નથી, તેને જલ્દીથી દવાખાને પહોંચાડવીપડશે .. દવાખાને આટલી રાતે સાધન ક્યાંથી મળશે! સાધન મળી જાય તો પૈસા! પણ મણીને અને બાળકનો જીવ તો બચાવવો પડશે ને તે દોડતો ગામમાં ગયો... ગામમાં એક જ ગાડી હતી, સદનસીબે ગાડી ઘર
