સોમવારના દિવશે, લગભગ સવારના 10 વાગ્યાના સુમારે, 85 વર્ષના એક ઘરડા માજી પગથીયા ચઢીને બેંકમાં પ્રવેશ્યા. હાથમાં રહેલી લાકડીના ટેકે તે કેશિયરની સામે રહેલી કતારમાં છેલ્લે જઈને ઉભા રહ્યા અને પોતાનો નંબર ક્યારે લાગે છે તેની રાહ જોવા લાગ્યા. થોડી ક્ષણોની પ્રતીક્ષા બાદ તેમનો નંબર લાગ્યો. કામના ભારણથી અકળાયેલી કેશિયર તેમને ઉદ્ધતાઈથી પૂછે છે, “જલ્દી બોલો માજી, કેટલા રૂપિયા ખાતામાંથી ઉપાડવાના છે ? અને ખાતા નંબર તો યાદ છે ને તમને ?" વૃદ્ધા અવસ્થાને માત આપી રહેલા માજી ઠંડા કલેજે “પાંચસો રૂપિયા” એટલું ધીમા સાદે બોલ્યા. “માજી...!! આ ઉપર લખેલું બોર્ડ નથી વંચાતું ? 1500 રૂપિયાથી ઓછી રકમ ઉપાડવા
