પ્રેમના ધબકારા સાંજની ગુલાબી છાયામાં લપેટાતી જતી વુક્ષોની હારમાળાને મથાળે હજી સૂરજ લાલ રત્નોનો મુગટ ધારણ કરી ઝગમગી રહ્યો છે. દિવસો પછી મીના એના બે માળના વિશાળ આલીશાન નિવાસની બાલ્કનીમાં ઊભી છે. એની દીકરી શિકાગોથી સાંજની ફ્લાઈટમાં સેન હોઝે આવી રહી છે, દિવાળી હતી પણ આ ઘરમાં એનો કોઈને હરખ નથી. પાંચ વર્ષ પહેલાં આ ઘર દિવાળીના દિવસોમાં લાઈટો અને દીવાઓથી પ્રકાશી ઉઠતું, આજુબાજુના અમેરિકન પડોશને ઇન્ડીયન ન્યુ ઈયરની જાણ થઈ જતી. મઠિયા, મીઠાઈથી ડબ્બા ભરાઈ જતા. મીના 'હેપી દિવાલી'ની રંગોળી કરતી, એનો દીકરો કેવલ અને દીકરી રીટાની ધમાચકડી અને પાર્ટીથી ઘર ગાજી ઉઠતું. આજે તે દીકરી રીટાની રાહ જોતી
