હું દોડી-દોડીને થાકી ગઇ છુ. મારી સ્થિતિ અત્યારે ખૂબજ ખરાબ હતી. હું ઘણી દૂર આવી ગઇ હતી, છતાં મારો ડર ઓછો થયો ન હતો. હું અત્યારે એક સાંકડી ગલીમાં ઊભી હતી. હું પાછળ જોવા માટે જેવી ફરી એટલે એક-બે સેકંડ એવું લાગ્યું કે મારુ હૃદય હમણાં જ બંઘ પડી જશે! મારી સામે એક ભયાનક ચહેરાવાળો અત્યંત વિકરાળ સ્વરૂપ ધરાવતો રાક્ષસ ઊભો હતો. તેના મોમાંથી વિચિત્ર અવાજો નીકળી રહ્યા હતા. તેની અત્યંત બિહામણી લાલચોળ આંખોમાંથી ક્રોધ વરસી રહ્યો હતો. તેના દાંત અને નખ અત્યંત લાંબા અને ધારદાર હતા. તે હમણા જ મારો જીવ લઇ લેશે એમ માની હું આંખ બંધ કરી
